About This Spot
Stepping into American Legion Post 627 feels like coming home to a familiar and welcoming gathering spot nestled right in the heart of Nisswa. The pace here is easygoing, with an undercurrent of warmth that comes from the people who frequent the place and the sense of community that fills the air. It’s the kind of local eatery where conversations hum gently—sometimes over a slice of pizza, other times amid the lively buzz of bingo night or a spirited meat raffle.
The atmosphere blends casual comfort with a touch of nostalgia. Whether you’re settling in at the bar with a cold drink and free popcorn or catching friendly faces on the deck after a round of golf, the Post invites you to slow down and savor the moment. Friday nights bring a mix of live music and karaoke, where regulars and newcomers alike share spirited performances, adding layers of personality to the space.
Food here feels like a companion to the experience rather than the main event. There’s a sense that every meal, every drink, and every shared laugh here is part of a larger, ongoing story between neighbors and visitors alike.
American Legion Post 627 holds a certain charm that’s rooted not just in its food or events, but in its role as a gathering place where you can easily find a friendly smile, a place to pull up a chair, and a moment to feel connected—whether you’re dropping by for bingo with family or joining friends for a casual night out. Love the legion and the people who run it. Recently they changed their Friday night Dj. The new Dj does not play music that the crowd likes. The legion was always packed when Mitch Blue eyes dj played. He played music that the crowd was familiar with . People were lined up to sing. Last Friday the Dj had 1 table of 5 ladies ( her friends) maybe 5 people at the bar. I feel this was a big mistake for the Legion. They should get Mitch back or someone who knows how to play music that the crowd likes. Everyone was asking for Mitch. We left as well.

We stopped in from out of town on a Friday night and had so much fun with the meat raffle that we came back on Sunday for bingo. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Get there early for events if you want a good seat! We didn't have any food either time, but it looked good. Free popcorn!

They do have karaoke on Friday nights. Some people are really good. Some of the regulars are really good. And unfortunately some of them are like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard. The most disappointing thing was the fact that they allowed some idiot to paint over Arlene Klucas's beautiful mural in the front entryway. Pictured above this was there for a good 15-20 years. This took Arlene many months to paint, it was a labor of love. People came from all around just to see the beautiful mural. Heartbreaking to see it paint it over with blood red paint.

The place was packed! Went to Wednesday night Bingo. Waitresses and the ladies distributing the bingo cards did such an Awesome job! Had the cheese burger and seasoned fries. I liked that they had, serve yourself ice water at a table. The atmosphere was really upbeat and fun and all different ages. Bingo caller was really good. did, clear and at a good pace. I played 3 cards all evening and had no trouble keeping up.
